The Test of Retrieval Efficiency: Pre-Order Now!

We are pleased to let you know that the
Test of Retrieval Efficiency (TORE) is now available to pre-order exclusively from the Dyslexia Action Shop!

What does the test allow you to do?

  • The test allows you to assess a group of learners at the same time in their ability to retrieve simple data at speed. This group-based approach enhances efficiency, allowing up to ten individuals to be assessed simultaneously, saving valuable time
  • This product can also be used as an initial screener to identify groups of pupils who may benefit from a more in-depth access arrangements assessment.
  • It is also extremely useful for those who are eligible to carry out exam access arrangements

What are the advantages of using TORE?

  • The TORE can be administered to small groups of children and young people, making it a highly practical and time-saving tool for classroom settings. This contrasts with traditional analogue tests, particularly rapid naming tasks, which typically require individual administration
  • It is suitable for ages 13-18, making it ideal for a secondary classroom setting
  • The test can be completed very quickly, each part only takes 45 seconds and the whole test can be completed in 15 minutes
  • It is also suitable for learners with English as an Additional Language (EAL), as it does not require them to verbalise the answer.

Sophia Butler, one of the authors, commented: “Anna Smith, Louise van der Valk and I are delighted to partner with Real Group Ltd on the publication of the TORE. We have all worked with the award winning group as tutors/consultants previously. Knowing its firm foundations in ethics and testing, it is the perfect company to launch our test”.

The TORE has been standardised on a normative sample of 916 participants in the UK aged 13-19.

Don’t forget: Members of the Dyslexia Guild (particularly those who hold Member, Fellow, Practitioner Assessor of Access Arrangements) and current APC holders, are eligible for a 10% discount on most products in the shop. This includes purchases of TORE.
